Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer for hospitalised patients, outpatients and people affected by vulnerability or violence
The MHPSS field officer’s primary function is to contribute to the implementation of ICRC’s MHPSS response to hospitalised and out patients at the Rafic Hariri Hospital Beirut by coordinating MHPSS activities in area of response. The field officer provides direct clinical support to patients (assessment, treatment planning and follow-up), ensures quality and continuum of care (referral, follow-up), develops psychosocial activities (sensitization and information sessions) and participates in the development a community mental health project.
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
Master’s degree in clinical psychology
At least two years of clinical experience preferably working with vulnerable population, community mental health, and/or people affect by violence
Very good knowledge and experience in individual and group therapy techniques
Excellent training skills in supportive communication and group facilitation for non-specialists
Very good analytical, communication and networking skills
Excellent ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Proven planning and organizational skills
Experience working in a hospital setting is a plus
Excellent knowledge of both Arabic and English, both written and spoken, is mandatory
Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Web browsers etc...)
Function description:
In collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the hospital Project Manager and technical supervision of the MHPSS Delegate, the Field Officer contributes technically to the implementation of MHPSS activities.
Conduct MHPSS assessment upon admission of new (in and out) patients and determine if further intervention is needed, includes use of psychometric tests.
Provide individual/family/group mental health care through (brief to mid) supportive psychotherapy according the degree of severity of the cases and their problematics.
Liaise with medical team, social worker, psychiatrist and other teams as necessary to ensure patient safety and continuum of care throughout hospitalization and discharge.
Observe, evaluate and monitor the evolution of the patients, through regular meetings, develop and implement treatment plans, for improvement or changes in the therapeutic processes in collaboration with the other team members.
Participate in regular clinical supervision with MHPSS Delegate and monthly MHPSS team meetings.
Actively participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
Maintain client files in accordance with international standards, manage MHPSS database and contribute to timely reporting as required.
Develop, facilitate and implement information, sensitization and capacity building sessions to hospital and PHC teams in surrounding area as required.
Actively participate in stakeholder mapping, networking and meetings.
As required support MHPSS delegate by liaising with and contributing technically in the adjoining Community Mental Health Centre.
