Physiotherapist Field Officer

PURPOSE

The Physiotherapist as integral part of the ICRC multidisciplinary Health team serves on all ICRC supported areas of Rafik Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) and Tripoli Governmental Hospital (TGH), promoting and ensuring high quality patient centred physiotherapy services meeting national, international and ICRC standards. Helps promote best practices in coordination with the hospital/physical rehabilitation team and is actively involved in discussing services regarding complicated/complex cases and whenever needed provides services.

S/he will be the focal point for a continuum of Care approach and ensure care from early Physical Rehabilitation to Physiotherapy services and further to long term physical rehabilitation in case of need.

S/he contributes to a capacity and training strategy, promotes their practical implementations and its monitoring to improve the all-over Physical Rehabilitation management of patients; collaborates with the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon within the scope of a task force working group, for the hospital physiotherapists, for “early rehabilitation technical standards in Lebanon in conflicts and disasters” workshop.

MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy or equivalent (4years course)
  • Registered with the Order of Physiotherapist with a valid license to practice in Lebanon
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in hospital physiotherapy
  • Training in hospital physiotherapy setting / Early rehabilitation and fitting
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Package
  • Very good command in Arabic and English (written & spoken).
  • Very good communication skills
  • Teamwork spirit
  • Patient centered care approach

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that physiotherapy needs are assessed and defined with regard to the patients in need of physiotherapy/physical rehabilitation, in coordination with the hospital/physical rehabilitation project team and in close collaboration with professional experts (e.g. surgeons, psychologists, ortho-prosthetists)
  • Helps promote best practices in coordination with the hospital/physical rehabilitation team and is actively involved in discussing services regarding complicated/complex cases and whenever needed provides services.
  • Establishes a safe and conducive working environment, focusing on non-violent communication, even under challenging conditions
  • Sets priorities and manages timely provision of physiotherapy services within a multidisciplinary approach
  • Strengthen the overall activities, internal organization and presence in the wards of the physiotherapy department in RHUH and TGH and supervises physiotherapy staff and ensures sustainable physiotherapy practice
  • Supports in the development and the practical implementation of rules & regulations, treatment protocols and guidelines to improve the clinical management of patients with physiotherapy needs respecting ICRC standards
  • Ensures the continuum of care by referring individuals in need of further rehabilitation or Primary Health Care (PHC) services, after their discharge to the appropriate structure and strengthen the referral system.
  • Advocates for the implementation of ICRC physiotherapy standards in collaboration with the respective partners and supported facilities
  • Assess the physiotherapy staff’ needs and performance, providing regular feedback, ongoing training and identify/plan and assist Continuous Professional Development trainings for the partnering staff
  • Deliver training and coaching within his specialty based on ICRC internal guidelines and internationally validated recommendations
  • Contributes to developing professional relationships; advocates health promotion activities and scholarly practice, so that service users benefit to the utmost from ongoing learning
  • In case of onset of emergency (disaster, violence’s, or other situation of conflict), s/he conduct a needs assessment in his area of responsibilities in coordination with the hospital project manager, the physical rehabilitation project manager and the Health coordination team
  • Collaborate with the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon within the scope of a task force working group, for the hospital physiotherapists, for “early rehabilitation technical standards in Lebanon in conflicts and disasters” workshop.
  • Liaise with the ICRC hospital PT group and hospital PT advisor and participate to the regular skype meetings.
