Protection Field Officer - South of Lebanon

Job Summary:

The Protection Field Officer (FO) contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of the delegation’s protection activities, mainly Protection of Civilian Population (PCP). The position holder will monitor the protection concerns in Tyr Area of Responsibility (AoR) and help identify protection concerns in relation to the ongoing Conduct of Hostilities (CoH), internal displacement, Health Care in Danger (HCiD) and individual follow up of most vulnerable affected persons. The Protection FO could also support other Protection files based on needs, mainly during field assessments, including through the identification and referral of individual cases to the concerned units/departments.

Objectives and Tasks:

  • Implements protection activities under the supervision of the line manager.
  • Contributes to analyses of the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, shares relevant information with team members and reports any change in the situation.
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of projects.
  • Collects, compiles and interprets protection-related information (with appropriate care for staff risk management).
  • Analyses and contributes to written internal reporting and activity programming (as part of institutional exercises).
  • Helps to make internal and external meetings meaningful (through preparation, participation, reporting and follow-up).
  • Develops and maintains contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers, etc.
  • •repares, participates in and reports on all aspects of field assignments.
  • May support and supervise staff in the implementation and monitoring of field projects.
  • Fosters a conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamic) among team members.
  • Ensures the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Years of experience required: 3 - 5 years of experience in the field of social, political, economic or similar field.
  • Level of education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Field of education: social/political/economic science or similar.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English.

Job Details:

  • Job Location: TYR – South of Lebanon
  • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm
  • Contract Type: fixed term, 1year (renewable based on the performance and need of the position)
  • Salary Package: USD 2’037 – 3’518 (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
