PURPOSE
Under the responsibility of the Senior Program Officer Missing and technical supervision of the functional Mental Health and Psychosocial Support ‘MHPSS’ manager, the Psychologist is responsible for the technical supervision, training and coaching of the accompaniers (of partner organization ACT) implementing the project of accompaniment of the families of Missing persons in Lebanon. The psychologist develops the MHPSS part of the program through the creation of methodology and tools to help the accompaniers to support the families whose relatives went missing in relation to the conflict in Lebanon. She actively supports the accompaniers in the field. She assists and participates to the MHPSS sessions with the families ran by the accompaniers, with the aim to coach them and fully develop their capacities. She is responsible for monitoring and assessing the MHPSS part of the program and reports accordingly.
Minimum required knowledge and professional experience
• 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience as Psychologist with minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS programs.
• Experience/knowledge in training process and supervision are required
• Experience in clinical and psychosocial interventions in humanitarian settings and Red Cross/Red Crescent experience are strong assets
. Experience in managing teams is an asset.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and follows up on MHPSS activities related to the Accompaniment project in Lebanon in close coordination with the partnering organization (ACT for the Disappeared) including:
Participating in the planning and organization of PSS/ Memorialization activities for the families as per objectives set out in the strategy.
Evaluating regularly the needs of the families and contributing to the design of new approaches based on the specificities in each region.
Participates in the coaching of ICRC RFL/Missing field officers.
Managing of data related to activities for families of missing within the Accompaniment project for the PSS/Memorialization phase.
Reporting the data related to the MHPSS activities in the ICRC health databases (Medical aggregated data-MAD/MHPSS, PEARL). Contribute to the Health/MHPSS quarterly report.
Ensuring a timely liaison with the team to share updates and information relevant for the overall management of the Accompaniment project in particular and the Missing file in general.
Providing regular oral and written reporting to the Senior Program Officer and to MHPSS functional manager
Participating in the design of the yearly plan of action for activities in relation to the accompaniment project in Lebanon.
Trains and supports ACT for the Disappeared accompaniers including:
Identifying accompaniers in close coordination with ACT for the Disappeared Project managers and participates in the selection process.
Preparing and facilitating the training sessions of the accompaniers according to the ICRC practical handbook (Accompanying the families of missing persons, Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) and by developing local material.
Ensures the regular supervision and coaching of accompaniers by:
Actively following up on the activities related to psychosocial support/Memorialization conducted by accompaniers in the field;
Facilitating group and individual supervision sessions and providing ongoing coaching and support to the accompaniers;
Giving feedback, guidance and technical advice to accompaniers during home visits and group sessions;
Developing the capacity of the accompaniers and/or Missing field officer(s) to identify the family members’ in need of referral to specialized services and follows up on referrals.
Organizes referral of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up including delivering individual counselling sessions where and when needed and identifying structures in case of referrals; monitors the quality of and ensures adequate feedback concerning the services provided.
Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection, in addition to elaborating the results and evaluating the mental health and psycho social component of the project.
Follows up on ACT’s accompaniers in issues related to reporting on their activities in close cooperation with ACT’s Project coordinators.
