Psychologist Field Officer

The ICRC Health Unit in Lebanon currently run Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programmes in Beirut, Beqaa and the North. These programmes aim to provide tailored psychological and psychosocial care to people with MHPSS needs in health facilities and at community level.

In collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the MHPSS Delegate, the Field Officer contributes technically to the implementation of MHPSS activities in line with the ICRC MHPSS framework. The position will be based in Beirut with travel to field locations. 

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.

License to practice Clinical Psychology from the Ministry of Public Health

3-5 years clinical experience using evidence-based approaches 

Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team

Good communication & diplomacy skills - Problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Knowledge and and experience in public health. 

Experience leading training and education sessions. 

Previous experience in MHPSS programmes. 

Knowledge and experience in community-based mental health. 

Statistical analysis skills (Excel, SPSS; STATA) 

Fluent English required. Frensh a strong asset. 

Responsibilities:

Alongside the MHPSS Delegate, represents the ICRC as part of a consortium Community Mental Health Centre programme.  

Closely collaborates with consortium partners and attends technical and operational committee meetings.

Assists in developing a CMHC project document and ICRC project document.

Assists in identifying gaps in services, prioritising needs, and to develop and implement action plans accordingly within the ICRC and CMHC framework.

Develops a PHCC network, integrates appropriate mental health at primary level and develops a stepped care system between PHC and CMHC.

Works as part of a multidisciplinary community mental health team or field team to provide psychological support services.

Conducts structured clinical assessments upon admission of new patients, includes use of standardised assessment tools and clear case formulation.

Develops consistent treatment plan with clear objectives for patients identified with MHPSS needs according to severity score of scales and clinical observation.

Identifies gaps in competencies of PHCC staff related to basic MHPSS knowledge and skills in identification, handling and referral of patients with MHPSS needs.

Participates in developing competencies of CMHC staff if required.

Develops, facilitates and implements information, sensitization and capacity building MHPSS sessions at PHCC or other entities as required.
