Social Media Officer

ICRC is recruiting a "Social Media Officer" The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been present in Lebanon since 1967 and has carried out its humanitarian work through different periods of conflict, including Lebanon’s 15-year-long civil war from 1975–1990. We are currently responding to the rapidly growing needs of displaced people fleeing war and violence across the region into Lebanon as well as the local communities hosting them. The ICRC activities on behalf of people affected by war and violence in Lebanon include, but are not limited to, ensuring people affected by conflict can get access to basic health care, services such as water and electricity and restore their economic security, securing humane treatment and conditions for detainees, building respect for the IHL and supporting the families of the missing persons. We are based in Beirut and have offices in Tripoli, Tyr and Zahle. Job Purpose: The Social Media Officer maintains and promotes the ICRC’s visibility and perception through disseminating and producing communication products for the ICRC’s online platforms. He/she will assist the Communications Department in promoting the ICRC and its activities to different audiences through campaigns and day-to-day social media activities. Your profile: University degree in Communication or any relevant major 3 - 5 years’ work experience in a similar field Very good knowledge of written and spoken Arabic and English Very good computer skills Excellent knowledge of two communication tools (social media) Good audiovisual production skills Good content visualization skills (“Final Cut” software) Very good analytical and writing skills Confirmed capacity to analyse the political and social environment Function description: - In charge of social media Produces innovative content for ICRC social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram notably), in English and Arabic, to help increase respect for and understanding of the ICRC, and raise awareness about humanitarian issues of concern to the organization Identifies key social media influencers and develops the delegation’s social media experts/activists network Develops the delegation’s daily presence on social media outlets Promotes ICRC social media content and periodically evaluates its performance Identifies best practices and opportunities and makes proposals to increase the visibility of the ICRC on social media Leads the development and implementation of the Delegation´s social media strategy and the integration of interactive media into the overall communication strategy Prepares regular reports and statistics on social media activities and their impact (achievements) - Supporting role: Environmental Scanning Monitors and analyses social media trends and their impact on the organization (reputation issues notably) In coordination with the Public Communication (Media) Officer, regularly monitors online/social media, and identify potential and actual perception/reputation problems for the ICRC Develops reports on social media - Supporting role: Communication activities Leads and/or supports the production of audiovisual material (short films) and visual content (infographics; timelines, etc.) for social media platforms Contributes to the production of public communication tools/material (leaflets, web documents, photo galleries, etc.) and proposes/develops new ones when needed, in coordination with the COM team  What we offer: Working for one of the main humanitarian organization.
