"Social Worker"

Job purpose:
As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker delivers high-quality care to patients and service users at the Weapon and Traumatology Training Centre (WTTC) as well as in the North. S/he helps ensure coherence between the different services interacting with the individuals/communities. S/he supports activities related to: societal integration of the patients; access to services for vulnerable groups; and/or reintegration into the community for victims of armed conflict and violence. S/he is also an important team-member in helping patients to overcome physical and mental problems that are the result of disability, injury or illness
Position within the hierarchy:
This function reports to: Psychologist
Responsibilities:
-Identifies and maps social-inclusion/service-access networks; conducts stakeholder analyses and keeps regular contact with community representatives and relevant organizations.
-Assesses patient/user access to services and defines the level of assistance required in agreement with the ICRC multidisciplinary team.
-Ensures the data collection for patient under his/her responsibility by using existing information collection tools and reporting templates.
-Refers patient to most appropriate institution (humanitarian organization or public entities) and liaises with ICRC departments as required.
-Collaborates with members of the health team, the patient/family to assure patients' psychosocial and socioeconomics needs are addressed wherever possible.
-Coordinates patient discharge and continuity of care planning with respective health care team members and other NGOs or agencies.
-Organizes and participates in workshops/training related to access to services for vulnerable groups, inclusion for people with disabilities, integration into the community for victims of violence, and other relevant subjects.
Qualifications and skills:
-Degree in Medico-Social Work or Social Work or other related field in depth understanding of poverty and vulnerability issues.
-Fluency in English written and spoken in addition to being native Arabic speaker.
-3 - 5 years' work experience in similar function.
-Knowledge of health humanitarian actors in Lebanon is a strong asset.
