Social Worker at Rafic Hariri University Hospital

ICRC works in collaboration with Rafik Hariri University Hospital since beginning 2016. The integrated approach and support helps to assure access for vulnerable people to medical care. ICRC is present in different departments as the ER and a medical/surgical department. 

The Social Worker will be working in Rafic HarirI University Hospital (RHUH). He/ she works with people to support them through difficult times and to ensure that vulnerable people, children and adults have access to health care. In addition, the social worker provides support in enabling service users to help themselves, in assisting the hierarchy in running support or operational activities for specific sectors and in maintaining contacts with external interlocutors. Moreover, the social worker contributes to the implementation and monitoring of specific projects / programs within the department.

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

·      Degree in Medico-Social Work or Social Work or other related field in depth understanding of poverty and vulnerability issues.

·      3 - 5 years' work experience in similar function with individual intervention.

·      Knowledge of health humanitarian actors in Lebanon is a strong asset.

·      Very good knowledge of spoken and written English

·      Very good computer skills

·      Good communication, analytical and resistance to stress.

Responsibilities and tasks

·      Assess the vulnerability of the patient and define the level of assistance under the direction of the Senior Social worker.

·      Ensure the data collection for patient under his/her responsibility by using existing information collection tools and reporting templates. Consolidate the monthly statistic for the social worker department.

·      Refer patient to most appropriate institution (humanitarian organization or public entities).

·      Support vulnerable patient in administrative process.

Perform case management during hospitalization

·      Participate and suggest improvement in the vulnerability assessment methodology.

·      Develop a strong partnership with RHUH counterparts.

·      Maintains contacts with external interlocutors under the direction of the Senior Social Worker.

·      Contributes to the implementation and monitoring of specific projects / programmes within the department

·      Collaborates with members of the health team, the patient/family to assure patients' psychosocial and socioeconomics needs are addressed wherever possible;

·      Coordinates patient discharge and continuity of care planning with respective health care team members and other NGOs or agencies;
