Ward Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

The Medical Surgical Unit Ward Nurse, under the supervision of the War Nurse in charge, implements and monitors the objectives defined by the delegation towards the Rafic Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) project in Beirut. Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care, hygiene, infection control and safe medication practice on the Medical Surgical Ward. Independently follows up and updates specific files. He/She is also being involved for practical implementation of institutional and ICRC guidelines and protocols adapted and agreed with our partner RHUH.

Main responsibilities

Actively participates in planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating patient care in the clinical area(s) of responsibility, ensuring a standardized approach to nursing care by following agreed ICRC standard protocols, guidelines and hospital policies.

Involves her/himself positively in the general process of collaboration with RHUH team to improve the quality and safety of patient care

Administers medications (intravenously, intramuscular, subcutaneous, orally, rectally) as prescribed by physician

Performs dressing change using aseptic techniques as per the prescribed protocol

Takes vital signs, empty drains and documents patient's intake output on nursing charts and patient's medical file

Profile

Professional diploma or university degree (Registered Diploma)

3 - 5 years' nursing experience in general and orthopedic surgery

Good knowledge of written and spoken English

Good computer skills

Good communication and diplomacy skills

Good analytical skills

Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team
