Level of Effort: The Consultant will work according to the deliverables listed below.
Background: International Medical Corps’ Health Department is seeking to hire a medical consultant with strong adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) experience. She/he will support in the development of guidelines on provision of ASRH in primary health care settings.
Additionally, the consultant will perform related trainings to PHCC health care providers and to community health teams. He/she will also be responsible for developing ASRH Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material and medical guidelines to be used by community and health teams to enhance ASRH in Akkar area.
Purpose: The purpose of this scope of work is to support the procurement of the services of ASRH consultant to develop and implement a program, and also to train IMC staff and partner PHCCs.
Task Description: Consultant will serve as the ASRH expert in Lebanon country program, Akkar area. Specifically, consultant will complete the following tasks:
Essential duties and responsibilities:
ASRH consultant is expected to:
- Conduct the necessary assessment, data collection and revision of WHO and other reliable academic and international institutions guidelines on ASRH and develop adolescent-friendly, high-quality health guidance packages that include the following topics:
- The provision of information, advice, counselling and clinical services aimed at promoting health and preventing health problems and problem behaviors in adolescents
- Guidelines for healthy development and growth in male and female adolescents and for identification and management of developmental problems when they occur.
- Case management of adolescents’ health, i.e., the diagnosis, detection and management of health problems and problem behaviors.
- Prevention of unwanted pregnancy.
- Guidelines on management of adolescent pregnancy.
- Guidelines on prevention and management of STDs, including HIV.
- Guidelines on healthy pregnancy and postpartum period.
- Guidelines on family planning in adolescents.
- Guidelines based on the standard operating procedures available for safe identification and referral in cases related to gender-based violence (GBV), clinical management of rape (CMR) and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
- Guidelines on comprehensive sexual education.
- Coordinate with IMC’s chief medical officer, MoPH and UNFPA on the prepared material.
- Adapt the training material to target two separate audiences: Health care professionals (HCPs) and community health workers (CHWs).
- Design, prepare and plan for the delivery of training sessions on ASRH packages to PHCC staff (including OBGYNS, midwives and social workers, etc.) and IMC staff in Akkar area.
- Prepare and deliver pre and post tests for the trainings.
- Prepare training report.
Qualifications:
- MD with specialty in OBS/GYN/Endocrinology/Family medicine.
- More than 5 years of experience related to ASRH. MPH is a plus. Certificate or equivalent training in ASRH.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical learning, documentation, and knowledge management in ASRH projects.
- Demonstrated experience developing global ASRH program tools and guidance.
- Proven technical writing and public speaking experience.
- Previous experience in delivering trainings in humanitarian settings.
- Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic.
- Previous NGO experience is a plus.
Fee Amount: A total of USD 6000 will be paid according to the payment schedule based on completion of International Medical Corps requirements and IMC’s acceptance of deliverables.
Location of Work: Consultant resides in Lebanon and will conduct her/his training in Akkar area in case trainings happen in person, or from home if trainings take place online. The consultant will be responsible for the travel arrangements to and from the trainings locations and will ensure good internet connection for online sessions.
