Communications Consultant (repost)

Scope of Work:

The Consultant will serve as Communications Officer in Lebanon on a multi-million Euro health program that will launch in 2018, implemented by a consortium of international nongovernmental organizations. The objective of the program is to reduce barriers to health access in Lebanon. International Medical Corps seeks an experienced external Communications Consultant to design and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility strategy for this program. This part-time consultant will work with International Medical Corps’ program, monitoring and evaluation, and logistics/procurement teams in country and in close coordination with the IMC communications team at headquarters, which is responsible for approval of communications and messaging for the Agency.

Deliverables:

•    Draft press releases, media advisories, and talking points

•    Collect material and background information about beneficiaries, staff and community volunteers – among others – to produce and facilitate success and human-interest stories that demonstrate successful program impact

•    Organize launch and closing events for the project

•    Design information products

•    Provide relevant information to facilitate consistent positive media coverage about the program

•    Provide regular content, information and material to highlight the project on social media

•    Support with community outreach strategies

•    Identify advocacy opportunities to pursue in coordination with the consortium and International Medical Corps’ headquarters communications team

•    Ensure appropriate visibility is given to the European Commission throughout the project’s implementation

•    Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or higher

• Relevant experience in similar role with an international humanitarian agency

• Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English

• Knowledge of the media environment and editorial procedures

• A well-developed writing ability, including the ability to create compelling content for both Arabic- and English-speaking audiences

• Demonstrable project management skills and the capability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines

• A strong understanding of the program’s objective, humanitarian principles, and the humanitarian

• A good understanding of the funder’s policies and regulations
