Community Health Consultant

Summary and Background: The Community Health Consultant is in charge of reviewing the community health program approach by observing activities and evaluating program structure, tools and material. Place in the Organization This post is under the technical supervision of the Community Health Program Manager and reports to him/her. Functions and responsibilities In accordance with established policies and procedures and in coordination, the Community Health Consultant will: Identify gaps and areas of improvement in the current community health program by assessing current program approach to health education and referrals  Develop detailed report including work plans to improve the Community Health program   Oversea and assist in establishing community health training curriculum as well as educational aids and related materials(provide evidence-based training curriculum for CHWs) Assess CHW implementation areas and identify possible new locations for outreach and intervention Assist community health team in developing and implementing health behavior change approaches through community education Evaluate current community health program reporting tools and direct data analysis Review CHW survey and identify opportunities to improve impact measurement Review community health program concept notes and proposals from a technical point of view Conduct monitoring visits to informal settlements and/or community shelters/centers where the community health program is implemented Evaluate health facility reports to identify health needs in areas of CHW implementation to inform training curriculum Assist in establishing, managing and monitoring community-based surveillance system where applicable Assist in developing training materials. reporting tools, and visual aids as needed by the program Provide training sessions for Community health team on volunteer management, coaching, and needs assessments. Provide ToT to community health technical staff to deliver subsequent trainings. Assist in other tasks related to the community health  program as neede Submissions Submission of framework document detailing the proposed approach to the work and a detailed timetable for the execution of the Consultancy Draft promotional materials for the specific target groups as needed by the program Final report by the end of the 12th week of the consultancy consisting of the final approved health promotion materials and other various aspects of the assignment Minimum Qualifications Academic and professional         i.            Possession of a Master’s and/or Doctoral degree in health, public health, or social sciences Experience         i.            7 to 10 years of satisfactory relevant working experience       ii.            Previous work with a non-governmental organization or community-health programming Language and Computer Skills Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English Excellent command of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint  Desirable Qualifications         i.            International experience in humanitarian health education “Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.”
