Summary and Background: The Community Health Supervisor (CHS) is in charge of supervising a team of community health workers working in informal settlements and/or collective shelters and centers. The CHS will oversee implementation of community health activities and monitor quality to ensure they adhere to International Medical Corps’ standards and guidelines. Place in the Organization: The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Community Health Officer in the assigned Area and to the Community health manager. He/She will receive technical support from the Community Health Program Manager. Functions and responsibilities: In accordance with established policies and procedures, the Community Health Supervisor will: 1. Establish and maintain a daily schedule of activities for community health workers 2. Conduct daily visits to informal settlements and/or community shelters/centers where the community health program is implemented 3. Participate in community health activities including, but not restricted to, health awareness group sessions, home visits and distributions 4. Accompany community health workers during home visits and awareness sessions 5. Participate in public health assessments; oversee data collection; and compile data 6. Coach and support community health workers in utilizing data collection and monitoring tools 7. Supervise performance of community health workers using standard checklists and reporting forms 8. Act as a focal point between community health workers and the closest supported primary health care facility (point of referral) 9. Collect and manage referrals from community health workers to health facilities 10. Collect and assess referrals to other organizations for other needs such as shelter or WASH 11. Monitor outcome of referral with health facilities and provide feedback on referred cases to community health workers 12. Review, clean and compile data collected from the field 13. Monitor reporting for community-based health surveillance system 14. Provide detailed reports to Community Health Officer on a weekly basis 15. Identify training needs of community health workers 16. Develop relationships with local actors and community leaders as well as with other departments within IMC 17. Communicate information in a timely manner to community health outbreak 18. Assist in developing materials and visual aids for the program Minimum Qualifications Academic and professional i. Possession of a BS in Nutrition, pharmacy, Nursing or other relevant health fields of at least three years duration Experience i. A minimum of two years of satisfactory working relevant experience ii. Previous work with a non-governmental organization or community-health programming Language Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English Computer Skills Good command of Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Powerpoint
