Gender Based Violence Legal Consultant - All Areas

  1. Introduction:

The Gender Based Violence Legal Consultant will be responsible of guiding the team in a media campaign on the laws related to Gender Based Violence and developing the content of an awareness raising session related to GBV Laws.

  1. Dates and timeframe for the assignment:

1 Month starting October 10th  to November 10th 2019.

  1. Main tasks:
  • Coordinate with the GBV Program Management to develop a work plan for the awareness raising campaign on protection and gender laws.
  • Develop an awareness raising session content related to certain laws to be implemented by GBV case managers and social workers
  • Ability to adapt Gender Based Violence related laws to the context of IMC Gender Based Violence Program
  • Train staff on understanding how to apply GBV related laws
  • Contribute to the media campaign in coordination with communication department and media consultant
  • Suggest media engagement as needed for awareness raising and advocacy on proposed legal amendments
  • Conduct Focused Group Discussions in the field areas with Community Members and IMC staff
  • The selected consultant will work closely with the GBV Coordinator and the communication department and provide a detailed work plan for the one-month consultancy
  • The legal consultant will perform other tasks as needed by IMC team

  1. Qualifications:
  • Degree in Law is required, a master degree in Social Works or Law is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in developing plans for advocacy and policies analyses.
  • Understanding in international policies and legal framework to promote gender equality.
  • Strong understanding of legal gender related matters in Lebanon
  •  Previous delivered outputs and or portfolios (analytical reports, drafting of proposed laws and similar outputs)
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills, the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Experience in Working with Governments, and/or previous work experience with other NGOs/INGOs on Gender Based Violence/Protection related matters, is highly desirable.

  • Very good listening and facilitation skills – capable of managing and facilitating group discussions with program participants, local officials, partners and all levels of staff
  • Ability to mobilize people – to develop and maintain relationships with staff and communities to ensure their participation in International Medical Corps ways of working
  1. Experience required:
  • 8 Years of Work Experience in the Legal Framework of Gender Based Violence/Protection
  1. Languages and computer literacy
  • Fluency in Written and Spoken Arabic and English is required
