Organization Overview International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance. Job Summary In the Middle East, including Lebanon, International Medical Corps has developed an Innovative Method to working with men and boys with abusive behavior to prevent and respond to gender-based violence through its broader mental health and psychosocial support program.  This appraoch is delievered through a Men’s Center in Mt. Lebanon/Beirut, and will be available in the North and Bekaa. The Men’s Center teams work with affected male populations, including survivors, that have multiple and complex needs and require a comprehensive appraoch which identifies, supports, and protects those who are vulnerable and promotes stabilitly and recovery. GBV and MHPSS integrated approach allows men and boys to have access different levels of care, including more specialized mental health support if needed and requested that is patient centerd. Purpose of Evaluation and Training The purpose of the evaluation is to assess clinical methodologies in working with men and boys who have abusive behaviors. The evaluation of the project aims to document the level of interventions of the project’s specific objectives and results based on the below project outcome and outputs; to determine both qualitatively and quantitatively the actions performed in the field and generate best practices as well as lessons learned for the formation of a possible extension. The overall objective of the short term assignment is to develop a draft training manual that contain theoretical modules, methodology, guidelines for on the job coaching, regular supervision and monitoring. The manual should highlight and document best practices in working with men and boys with violent behavior in Lebanon, increase understanding of the current MC approach. Taking into consideration culturally sensitivities during these interventions, and how different therapeutic schools and methods have worked to respond and reduce violent behaviors. The manual should provide a unified approach towards men and boys issues building on the individual capacities of psychotherapists with specific objective is to build their skills and capacities as well as case management staff members to mitigate violence and aggressive behaviors, manage stress and communicate effectively with their patients. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The main responsibilities for the Men’s Center Advisor include: Work in line with IASC guidelines on mental health and psychosocial support and promote guidelines where appropriate Identify and document lessons learned through the Men’s Center in working with men and boys. In coordination and close work with IMC MHPSS program staff, evaluate and identify gaps in services and propose areas for future interventions when working with men and adolescent boys. Carry out a desk review of existing material on masculinity and gender issues in relation with the MCs on international level. Create a bibliography of all international experiences similar to the MCs. Produce a section within the training manual related to comparing the IMC/Abaad model and other relevant international initiatives and issue recommendation to help improve the Lebanon model. Develop a draft curriculum for trainings based on the experience of the MC in Beirut and other relevant literature – local and international. Get the necessary approvals from IMC and Abaad and work closely with the GBV/MC Technical Advisor, the IMC GBV Program Manager and the MHPSS Coordinator. Conduct capacity building trainings for Men’s Center contracted staff and with option of future training request by IMC and ABAAD teams. Continue to be the lead trainer and developer of a male centered curriculum for the Men’s Center activities. Coordinate closely with ABAAD and IMC in strategic observations and decisions concerning the clinic; Training curriculum to be developed jointly with IMC and ABAAD Men Center teams Each training course will be 3-5 days long on the curriculum and a follow up training to be conducted 2 months later.  Training must be facilitated in Arabic. Focus of the Evaluation, Development of the Manual and Training Project Phase 1: Strategy Evaluation Examine the effectiveness of the program in terms of its purpose and intended outcomes; Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of actions and strategy; Ascertain the impact the program has on targeted communities (positive, negative, intended, unintended impact..) Investigate the sustainability of actions promoted by the program; Suggest strategic and operational recommendations that be used by IMC and ABAAD in the ongoing and future Men’s Center Project Phase 2: Curriculum Development Development of the Male Centered Curriculum to support men and boys with aggressive or abusive behaviors.  Description of methodology used, including sampling decisions, qualitative and quantitative tools used. Training Curriculum to be developed to reflect the best practices found via case studies demonstrated within the Men’s Center Project Phase 3: Training The overall training cycle including planning, delivery and evaluation including: pre/post test evaluations, and report reflecting the training outcomes. Expected Outputs/Results Copy of training package and materials used for the evaluations team; Copies of tools used for the evaluation. Copies of all qualitative and quantitative data; Final evaluation report in English A PowerPoint presentation in English including methodology, main findings, recommendations, best practices, and lessons learnt. 3-5 Day Training on the Curriculum for Psychotherapists
