The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Specialist will be in charge of facilitating the planning/coordination of the IPT training with Columbia University and the national mental health program.
1. Dates and timeframe for the assignment:
3.5 months, starting June 15th until September 30th 2017
The MHPSS specialist will work as a consultant during this period on a part time schedule agreed upon with the MHPSS coordinator.
2. Main tasks:
The MHPSS Specialist will work closely on all tasks and responsibilities with the international Medical Corps MHPSS Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator.
1. Meet with MHPSS Coordinator and Deputy to develop a better understanding of the required tasks, approach and methodology.
2. Develop an action plan for the work to be undertaken during the duration of this assignment
3. Take part in planning, organizing and implementing IPT project when needed in coordination with the MHPSS coordinator and deputy coordinator
4. Follow up with Columbia master trainers and NMHP through skype calls on implementation of IPT project when needed
5. Assist in revision of training materials, submission of IRB documents and recruitment of training participants according to set criteria
6. Lead on the implementation of Interpersonal Therapy training:
a) Read the proposal for IPT training, donors’ guidelines and IMC policies.
b) Create a plan for the implementation of the training.
c) Liaise between IMC and other relevant parties such as universities, organization and individuals.
d) Liaise with IMC and Columbia University for the selection of training participants
e) Lead on the supervision aspect of the project and act as a lead to organize supervision session keeping track of the progress.
7. Other duties as assigned by the MH coordinator and Deputy Coordinator.
3. Deliverables:
· Submit a final report about the revision of the translated Group IPT manual
· Submit IRB proposal
· Submit a monthly report.
4. Qualifications:
§ Masters degree in clinical psychology, social sciences or any other related disciplines.
§ Previously participated in IPT training and supervision conducted by IMC, Columbia university and National Mental Health Program
§ Experience working in and an understanding of the nonprofit sector and/or an association setting preferred. Masters in Clinical Psychology or Equivalent;
§ Experience in providing group therapy interventions
§ In depth knowledge and experience in mental health, protection and psychosocial support services;
§ Experience in working with culturally diverse groups – refugees and IDPS;
§ Familiar with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, and IASC Guidelines.
§ Experience in providing trainings and working with multicultural groups;
§ Ability to work independently.
§ Experience in conducting research and case studies.
§ Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment prioritizes tasks, meet deadlines, attention to details and ensure high quality work.
§ Increased knowledge of the mental health and psychosocial support context in Lebanon.
5. Languages and computer literacy
English and Arabic – French is a plus - Excellent writing and communication skills.
Computer literate - Demonstrated experience in utilization of databases, Microsoft Office.
