Background:
The International Medical Corps Mental Health Department provides Mental Health and Psychosocial support (MHPSS) consultations through its case management teams located in Bekaa, South, North, Beirut and Mount Lebanon. International Medical Corps also aims to advocate for mental health, by promoting community based interventions such as early childhood development programs and youth empowerment programs in addition to provision of awareness sessions on several mental health topics. Moreover, International Medical Corps coordinates
with the National Mental Health Program within the ministry of public health to design MHPSS programs and conduct trainings.
Job Purpose:
The psychiatric nurse is part of the mental health and psychosocial support team and works closely with the case management team and the PHCC pharmacists. The psychiatric nurse will mainly support the MHPSS pharmacist with monitoring and supervision of the psychotropic medication management system
Main Responsibilities
- The psychiatric nurse will work in close coordination with the Case Managers and MHPSS Pharmacist on issues related to the field in terms of identification of challenges encountered, gaps for psychotropic medication management, and provide the MHPSS pharmacist all necessary information to ensure better service delivery
- Follow-up with the MHPSS case management team to ensure management of adverse effects of psychotropic medications.
- Report any major interaction / adverse effects to the MHPSS case management team for their follow-up.
- Identify gaps in psychotropic medication management system and report to MHPSS pharmacist to work on actions needed for future interventions
- Make sure lab tests are requested and performed for related psychotropic medication.
- Ensure in coordination with MHPSS pharmacist and MHPSS managers that all Psychotropic related measures are in place (dispensing, reporting, availability for beneficiaries)
- Prepare and conduct with the support of the MHPSS pharmacist regular capacity building trainings to PHCC pharmacists, case managers or any other related staff members on topics related to medications such as client counselling, managing side effects
Reporting:
- The psychiatric nurse will report findings related to psychotropic medication to MHPSS pharmacist
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for proper documentation of psychotropic management system.
- Conduct file audits and submit monthly tracking reports to the MHPSS pharmacist
Essential Experience :
Adheres to ethical considerations and principles in regards to working with vulnerable populations.
Desirables Experience:
- Previous experience in MHPSS
- Previous NGO experience
- Minimum 2 – 3 years working with vulnerable populations.

- Excellent Interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
- Good understanding of the project cycle and team work;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment,
- Prioritize tasks,meet deadlines, and ensure high quality work;
- Emotional maturity and agility in working in a fast-paced environment;
- Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft office
