Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant - Beirut Area

Background:

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. In Lebanon, International Medical Corps works to ensure access to quality health services for Syrian refugees, vulnerable Lebanese and other persons of concern by supporting a network of about 50 primary healthcare clinics and dispensaries across the country.

In order to monitor the performance and effectiveness of the programs, and to improve the delivery of future projects, the MEAL department is responsible for designing and implementing the M&E activities of the project; monitoring the project activities on a regular basis, preparing reports on project progress, ensuring accountability and collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities.

Job Purpose

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant is responsible for all data collection and collation for IMC’s Programs. She/he will have direct contact with the beneficiaries and have a great bearing on the quality of data collected and, ultimately, on the quality and data  output. Furthermore, she/he will Work with the MEAL team on designing and updating the MEAL tools and will assist the M&E Department with monthly/yearly program reports as needed

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor the field activities based on project implementation plan through IMC monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Conduct assessments as needed, facilitate focus groups and other qualitative data collection exercises
  • Monitor activity implementation progress against objectives and work plans
  • Collect, enter, and clean data on a monthly basis, depending on project requirements, while ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Train field level staff on data collection tools, as needed
  • Assist in developing operational monitoring tools (checklists, questionnaires, databases, interview and survey forms, etc.)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly schedule of monitoring and evaluation related activities.
  • Assist the MEAL team in the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, producing graphics and summaries, dashboards and draft reports with presentation the results of the analysis
  • Organize, collect, compile and document all program and MEAL-related data and files, ensuring that all records are properly organized and stored

Qualifications:

A minimum diploma level in Social Science related – Statistics, social work, sociology or equivalent field experience.

Experience:

-Previous relevant experience, such as data collection, analysis and reporting

-Basic understanding on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

Competency

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Experience in utilizing technology tools and also possess the ability to master new technology tools, as required; familiarity with the use of an Android tablet is an advantage
  • Good understanding in MS Office applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, specifically Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy-
  • Ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines.
