Program Manager - Mental Health Iraq

BACKGROUND International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs, seeks candidates for the position of Program Manager for our mental health programs in Iraq.  Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance. JOB SUMMARY The primary functions of the Program Manager include oversight and implementation of all related activities as pertaining to specific grants. Activities include recruitment, training and supervision of required staff, ensuring regular submission all necessary documentation, including donor reporting use of standard quality assurance tools; internal and external coordination, and day-to-day administration of overall program activity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage all aspects of the program including recruitment, supervision and capacity building of all senior staff, ensuring timely delivery of proposed activities Review project proposal materials and develop a detailed implementation and monitoring plan and adapt program to changing context as needed Meet with staff and other stakeholders to provide briefing on proposed activities, implementation and monitoring plan and roles and responsibilities of each team member Meet with team regularly to update project monitoring plan and discuss challenges/solutions Work with Medical Coordinator to undertake assessments and adapt the program interventions accordingly Work with Medical Coordinator to recruit and train staff on medical facility assessments, data quality assurance, analysis and interpretation of data, disease surveillance, outbreak response and other relevant subjects Schedule site visits for monitoring and supervision to ensure quality of services, accurate data collection and verification of pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment Compile data and submit reports as per given schedule, regularly update Medical Coordinator and senior management as to process against indicators and challenges faced Coordinate with other program departments to ensure integrated implementation of services Work with finance, logistics, HR/admin and security to ensure smooth implementation of project activities Attend coordination meetings as required Other duties as assigned The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
