PROGRAM BACKGROUND In partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Libyan National Transitional Council, International Medical Corps will strengthen existing rehabilitation services in Benghazi and Misurata, to provide urgently needed rehabilitation for persons with disabilities Purpose of the position: The primary responsibility of the post will be to ensure appropriate psychosocial support is available to war wounded clients in Benghazi Medical Center through training and supervising national staff. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The focus of the work is to support disabled people and their families and ensure Libyan staff receive appropriate training and support to implement modern approaches to disability. The Specialist will ensure the implementation of the following: Ensure that the project goals and targets in regard to  psycho social activities are implemented and met Work with the local psychologist to ensure that appropriate consultations, recommendations and treatment plans are developed for those that seek support Ensure training needs analysis is undertaken and that psychologists (and/or other support workers) receive up to date training on disability and other related issues Assist in the implementation of confidential documentation of treatment records (e.g. client history, intake, assessment, progress notes)  Assist with setting up of peer-to-peer counseling and user groups (persons who use the centre for physiotherapy and psycho social care) Ensure that disabled people and their families are fully included in decision making about any services they receive Work in partnership with the physiotherapists in the centre (ex-pat and local) to ensure that there is harmony in treatment plans and activities Qualifications: • MA degree in Psychology, Social work, Occupational Therapy or a relevant degree •Rehabilitation and/or psychotherapy work experience in the public or private sector. Experience of disability preferably both in conflict and non conflict settings Training experience • Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings including but not limited to considering influences of culture, ethnicity, language, gender, age, developmental level, sexual orientation, social network, residence and geographic location, socioeconomic status, and relative visibility and/or assumption of disability on attitudes and available services. • Extensive knowledge on public mental health approach and prevention/promotion treatment and rehabilitation models in MHPSS. • Personal qualities include a sense of initiative, strong work ethics, very good communication skills, self-confidence and commitment to humanitarian issues.  • Languages: Fluency in oral and written English, and preferably Arabic as well.  • Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications.
