Senior Reporting Officer

Primary Responsibilities: This position is designed to ensure support for program activities in the form of report writing.  The Senior Reporting Officer is fully responsible to ensure that all information and data from the field is captured, documented, analyzed and reported in a results-based and timely manner for donors and internal purposes. The incumbent will work under the guidance and support of the Program Manager, in coordination with the Regional Reporting Coordinator. Essential Job duties: Situational Awareness Gathers and interprets information from a variety of sources, including internet-based open source media, field mission reports, and information from other actors.  Fact-checks and cross-checks information with multiple field sources and media sources; reviews all information to ensure accuracy; addresses inaccuracy with field teams. Works and closely communicates with field teams and contacts to receive regular daily, weekly, and bi-weekly information and reports. Tracks the overall security situation in assigned areas. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the field mission and regional dynamics. Reporting Drafts and edits reports required for donors and HQ, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and final donor reports; weekly sit reps; flash and emergency reports; weekly security reports; informal information requests, as warranted. Prepares presentations, briefings, and reports using visual tools. Translates essential data and documents to be available in both English and Arabic as requested by donors, from and into English and Arabic. Provides high quality editing and formatting for all program related documents. Provides guidance to program supported staff to ensure successful reporting of weekly information, monthly reporting, and contracts. Conducts trainings for field staff to ensure successful reporting, as needed. Coordinates the production of various informational grant program-related documents upon request by senior management. Coordinates the production of all-informational related documents, such as but not limited to SOPs, grant proposals, contingency plans, strategic plans, upon request by senior management. Works closely with the Program Manager to review data, update and adjust plans based on donor recommendations  Assists in development of new project proposals for donors. Point of Contact Services Responds to donor and HQ inquiries regarding program activities. Provides relevant expert services to the project management, program components and implementing partners on reporting and communications and act as a facilitator. Closely coordinates with all program departments, logistics, finance, security, etc..on the identification of issues which may affect the program  reporting activities. Acts as a focal person for communication, coordinating information requests and documentation of best practices for internal and external sharing. Acts as a focal point for coordination and partnership meetings; drafts minutes of meetings as necessary. The  Senior Reporting Officer will report directly to the Program Manager. In his absence, will report directly to the Country Director to ensure tasks are completed and any pending issues highlighted. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in political science, history, international relations, international development, or a related field. An advanced degree is desirable. Experience with international organizations and non-governmental organizations is required. A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in operations; information gathering; analysis and reporting; and liaising with senior management and donors is required. Experience with the drafting of routine situation reports and ad hoc flash reports is required. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required. High-level of computer literacy. Technical report writing skills. Strong personal, interpersonal and communication skills Excellent strategic and analytical thinking   Evaluation of qualified candidates will include a written test and assessment exercise.
