Job Summary
As the Information Manager, you are responsible for a complete understanding of all Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC) data entries, capabilities, storage, and security. You are the focal point for CHDC and the Partner’s Portal (IPP). In addition, you will provide technical support to the programmes team for creating visualisations and dashboards. This post is based in Beirut, Lebanon, and reports to the Head of Mission. This contract is until 31 December 2025 with the intention to extend this role pending funding. We are looking for a start date of 15 August 2025.
- Organisation Background:
Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1200 NGOs operating in 16 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands- the international city of peace and justice.
- INSO Lebanon:
INSO Lebanon launched in October 2024 during the peak of the Israel-led war. It serves more than 120 international and national NGOs from the country office in Beirut. Our partners rely on INSO analysis and advice to deliver services to people in need, ever more since the end of the Israeli attacks have allowed the resume of operations and resulted in multiplied staff movements. Despite a tangible reduction of the number of incidents since the signature of the November 27 ceasefire, NGOs in Lebanon continue to face safety and access challenges across the country. Working with us provides an opportunity to gain insight into the complex drivers of instability and contribute to the smooth delivery ok key humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected Lebanese communities.
- Major Responsibilities:
1. Conflict & Humanitarian Data Centre (CHDC)
- Be the focal point of CHDC and understand the methodology with expert knowledge of the platform
- Ensure that information recorded is correctly categorized, promptly updated, and is properly accessed
- Monitor, assess, and continuously improve the accuracy and precision of data collected
- Provide CHDC training and inductions to staff.
2. INSO Partners Portal (IPP)
- Be the focal point of IPP and understand the registration process
- Guide the partners through the registration process and provide solutions to questions about the system
- Monitor and update the registration of INSO partners
3. Visualization activities
- Fill information needs and sources in collaboration with the team
- Aggregate data for analysis and presentation
- Produce high quality maps, graphs, and other products to support INSO’s analysis and facilitate NGOs’ understanding of the conflict
- Provide visual-relevant inputs to field missions
4. Technical Reference
- Manage and regularly update SharePoint folders with relevant materials
- Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, GIS, or relevant field
- Fluency in English
- Work experience in data management and visualization, in a similar humanitarian organization and context
- Experience in GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.
- Experience with Power BI and DAX, or similar BI software (Tableau, Looker studio, etc.)
- Knowledge of database management using SQL
- Ability to adapt to multi-cultural and diverse social backgrounds.
- Understanding and commitment to the humanitarian principles of independence, impartiality and neutrality.
- Knowledge in scripting languages such as Python is a plus
- Knowledge of Arabic language is a plus
- Familiarity with the operating environment in Lebanon is a plus
