Biomedical Engineer

Under the overall supervision of the Head of IOM Office in Lebanon and the Health Programme Officer at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Beirut, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for implementing activities within the framework of the project “Enhancing Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment for Syrian Refugees and Other Vulnerable Populations Affected by the Syrian Crisis in Lebanon” funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s Emergency Fund Mechanism. In particular, he/she will be doing the following:    Perform an infection control assessment specifically on the installation of HEPA filters and Ultraviolet lamps  in the different National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) centers and TB hospital across Lebanon Prepare a detailed report for each of the assessed structures, showing the needed numbers and sizes of the units to be installed and providing estimated costs, and compiling bill of quantities to be sent by the procurement unit to different suppliers for offers. Assist the project management staff in analysing bids and choosing the best suppliers (from the technical point of view) to undertake the installation of HEPA filters/UV lamps units. Undertake site visits as needed to supervise the installation of these units at NTP facilities. Perform quality check and sign off upon completion of activities in each of the NTP centers to ensure that the work completed is satisfactory and of good quality before releasing the last payment to the supplier. Provide technical advice in his/her area of expertise, whenever needed, to different IOM projects Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education Degree Details
1. Higher Diploma or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering.
2. Valid Accreditation from the Lebanese Order of Engineers and Architects (OEA)
3. At least 5 years work experience in engineering project implementation and/or management.
4. Previous experience on implementing infection control projects within health facilities including knowledge on international infection control standards.
5. Previous experience working on HEPA filters and UV lamps assessment and installation projects
6. Willing to travel to various NTP centers across Lebanon with his/her own transport vehicle
7. Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office package (Office, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), internet and Email.
8. Excellent command of spoken and written English.
