Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Response and Stabilization Coordinator and under the direct supervision of the National Program Officer (Basic Assistance), and with technical guidance from the DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) Surge and Remote Support Office (HQ), the incumbent will be responsible for the gathering and providing input from affected populations on the humanitarian impact of the explosion at the port of Beirut, Lebanon on the 4 August, which occurred amid an economic crisis and the ongoing global COVID 19 pandemic, is multi layered, demanding and urgent. 

In particular, s/he will be responsible to:

  • Visit the locations where affected populations are residing and gather information on their number, location, demographic, and other basic data as requested (data may also be collected through telephone interviews);
  • Complying with assessment deadlines as per IOM DTM guidelines;
  • Collect information on the humanitarian situation and needs in close coordination with counterparts and key informants at the district and location levels as advised by the supervisors;
  • Examine and process data, to ensure quality and accuracy, into simple forms in accordance with instructions and guidelines received;
  • Report on priority areas and needed interventions to the National Program Officer (Basic Assistance services) based from on the ground realities to inform future activities;
  • Assist and coordinate with responsible staff to ensure safety of transporting and distributing relief items and IOMs humanitarian response and recovery efforts if and when needed;
  • Ensure gender mainstreaming throughout activities, addressing protection, social, environmental and ‎other relevant cross-cutting concerns
  • Perform any other duties assigned by direct supervisor

Language skills: fluency in English, French and Arabic (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of the following languages is advantageous (Bengalli, Amarhic, Sinhala)
