Escort (On-call) - South

Under the overall supervision of the Operations Officer, and direct supervision of the Field operations assistant Team Leader, the incumbent is responsible to:

1. Assist refugees and migrants travelling under auspices of IOM on ground movements between the field and Beirut. Ensure a safe embarkation and disembarkation process.

2. Verify refugees’ and migrants’ identities upon embarkation based on the bus manifests received from the office.  

3. Distribute food to refugees at embarkation points and report any discrepancies in breakfast packages.

4. Act as IOM liaison at border, army, police or other check points to ensure smooth and safe passage.

5. Coordinate arrival/departures to/from destination with the relevant focal points (selection missions, visa application centres, migration health division, operations unit, pre-departure orientation sessions, etc.).

6. Assist staff at various destinations with monitoring attendance, workflow, or other requests as needed.

7. Attend to any special needs for refugees and other migrants, including medical cases and unaccompanied minors.

8. When applicable, escort refugees to hotels for overnight accommodation, and assist with room allocations and needs at the hotel until check-out. Ensure refugees embark buses to next destination.

9. Inform field team leader and relevant colleagues in the Beirut office immediately of any delays, no shows, incidents, or other unforeseen circumstances. Report any safeguarding concerns to the team leader immediately.

10. Provide general support to the operations department.

11. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
