IOM provides protection assistance both directly and in partnership with other stakeholders, through advocacy and communication, thematic guidance, training and capacity building, convening & dialogues, thematic research and direct assistance. Specifically, direct assistance includes case management, and protection services as well as assisted voluntary return and reintegration for migrants in vulnerable situation. This includes the provision of comprehensive support to Lebanese returning to Lebanon through holistic approaches to sustainable reintegration. This extends to Lebanese residing abroad who may be considering return, by providing them with accurate information on the return and reintegration process as well as the situation in Lebanon so they may make return decisions.
Under the overall supervision of the Protection Program Manager and the direct supervision of the Reintegration Assistant the reintegration counsellors will be responsible for the following activities:
1. Conduct virtual information sessions to prospective returnees (Lebanese abroad) on the current situation in country and prospects for reintegration in Lebanon.
2. Provide prospective returnees with accurate and comprehensive information about the situation in Lebanon in response to questions and requests online and via phone, enabling them to make informed return decisions.
3. Manage requests and contacts in a central database to ensure timely and efficient responses in coordination with colleagues. Record all contacts, requests, questions, and information provided.
4. Coordinate with the Reintegration Assistant on case-related inquiries
5. Draft information materials on the situation in Lebanon and return and reintegration process in line with requests received.
6. Perform any other related duties as assigned, particularly related to reintegration support to Lebanese returnees
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Personal experience or knowledge of migration abroad and returning to Lebanon is an advantage.
SKILLS
• Knowledge of the Lebanese context, challenges faced by returnees and vulnerable Lebanese, available services in Lebanon (health, education, etc.) and economic situation, protection gaps and responses implemented by UN and NGOs, Community-based initiative
