HOU2025 15 Labour Migration Division Hourly Worker

Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Lebanon is working to expand access to complementary labour mobility pathways for Syrian refugees, while also supporting the upskilling and employability of Lebanese nationals. These efforts aim to contribute to durable solutions for displaced populations. To achieve this, IOM implements a comprehensive approach focused on skills development, job matching, migration planning, and post-arrival support in coordination with relevant stakeholders, implementing partners and destination countries.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Labour Mobility Division and the direct supervision of the Labour Mobility Assistant, and in coordination with relevant units within the country office, the LMD Hourly Worker will be responsible for the following activities:

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Contact potential candidates from pre-identified lists and inform them about labour mobility opportunities.
  2. Conduct initial screenings and complete candidate assessments using predefined questionnaires, ensuring accurate documentation.
  3. Enter and update candidate data in relevant databases and Excel sheets, maintaining organized and accurate records.
  4. Maintain timely communication with candidates through phone and email, including follow-ups as required.
  5. Coordinate with project team members to ensure candidate profiles are accurate and complete, flagging any issues encountered during outreach or data collection.
  6. Support the preparation of brief updates or reports by compiling information gathered during outreach and assessments.
  7. Assist with logistical coordination and scheduling of interviews, assessments, or sessions in consultation with the team.
  8. Participate in field visits when requested and perform other related duties to support the implementation of the labour mobility programme.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION

High school diploma or undergraduate studies in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields.

EXPERIENCE

At least two years of experience working with marginalized communities, including but not limited to migrants, internally displaced persons, refugees, and other vulnerable groups.

SKILLS

Previous experience working with UN agencies or local/international NGOs is required.

Strong understanding of the Lebanese context and the challenges faced by Syrian refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable Lebanese populations is essential.

Familiarity with migration programming, including complementary pathways, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), language training, protection gaps, and community engagement is an asset.

Languages

REQUIRED

For all applicants, fluency in Arabic and English is required (oral and written).
