Migration Health Nurse

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Assist the Chief Nurse in organizing the activities related to migration medical assessment.
  2. Obtain blood, urine, sputum and other specimens for laboratory testing.
  3. Perform rapid laboratory tests, including but not limited to dipstick urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucometry, rapid tests and other tests as necessary.
  4. Administer and read tuberculin skin test.
  5. Administer vaccinations.
  6. Administer treatment for tuberculosis, syphilis, intestinal parasites and others as may be requested by the Chief Nurse  and Migration Health Officer in charge of MHAC. Manage and report adverse effects. Maintain relevant records.
  7. Assist Migration Health Physicians (MHPs) in medical examination, including collecting medical history, checking vital signs, weigh, height and visual acuity.
  8. Perform identification of the migrants coming for health assessments.
  9. Assist in management of medical documents of and filing process.
  10. Provide HIV pre- counselling before medical screening and post counselling if needed.
  11. Provide TB education to the TB patients and family members.
  12. Monitor and implement follow up procedures for the medical hold cases.
  13. Assist Chief Nurse to control inventory and supply of medications, vaccines and others.
  14. Participate in the surveillance, if required.
  15. Conduct counselling for beneficiaries including guidance and assistance to beneficiaries on the flow of health assessment.
  16. Such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.

• Bachelor in Nursing.
• Valid license to practice medicine (nursing) in Lebanon.
• At least two years of experience in clinical practice; excellent technical skills, including phlebotomy.
• Compassionate attitude to the patients.
• Computer literacy. Good computer skills (MS Office) are a distinctive advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Cultural and gender sensitivity: ability to work with the colleagues with different cultural backgrounds.
