Migration Health Physician (2 Positions)

Under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission, the overall technical supervision of the Regional Migration Health Assessments Coordinator for MENA region based in Amman, Jordan, the incumbent shall perform the following essential functions: 1. Performing migration health assessment and completing related medical documentation of migrants and refugees selected for migration in accordance with the resettlement country’s Medical Examination Guidelines/Protocols for Immigrants and the IOM Migration Health Assessment Guidelines. 2. Organizing the work of the Beirut Migration Health assessment Center on a day to day basis. 3. Liaising with the IOM Operations and other IOM missions for organization of the work, transport of refugee applicants and scheduling of both health assessment s and pre-departure health checks, stabilization and treatment. 4. Serving as clinical reference for decision making on behalf of IOM MHD Lebanon, in close coordination with the regional coordination of the health assessments, when it comes to fitness to travel and recommendations for travel requirements for medical cases. 5. Providing technical supervision and monitoring of IOM medical staff in IOM Beirut to ensure that the following activities are performed in accordance with the technical requirements of the resettlement countries: • Medical case registration • Medical treatment and follow up programs • Data Processing and management • Quality control and assurance protocols • Pre-embarkation medical examination of departing refugees 6. Contributing to the analysis and technical elaboration of data gathered from the migration health assessment. 7. Coordinating with the local/national health authorities, physicians, hospitals and laboratories, UNHCR and other UN agecies, and other health partners in Lebanon. This includes verification of the external service providers input. 8. Assisting in the preparation, design, analysis and implementation of research activities related to the migration health, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. 9. Assisting in developing potential health and migration projects/programmes for the mission. 10. Travel in the region on mobile missions’ duties, or on medical escorting duties, as might be requested by the technical supervisor. 11. Performing any other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisors.

• Education:
Medical Doctor, Diploma. Registered to practice medicine with the Lebanese Medical Association / Board. Post graduate degree in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases or Pediatrics is an asset.

• Experience:
Minimum three years of continuous clinical working experience, preferably with experience in infectious diseases, internal medicine, pediatrics or in the migration health field.
