Ntp Laboratory Technician

Under the overall supervision of the IOM Representative in Lebanon and the Health Programme Officer at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Beirut, and the technical direction of the National Tuberculosis Programme Coordinator of MOPH Lebanon, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for implementing activities within the framework of the project “Enhancing Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment for Syrian Refugees and Other Vulnerable Populations Affected by the Syrian Crisis in Lebanon” funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s Emergency Fund Mechanism. In particular, he/she will have the following tasks: Collect sputum samples from patients in a proper manner. Colour, dry and process specimens using microscope for MTB testing. Prepare samples for testing using Gene Xpert machine as needed. Ensure all laboratory equipment are functioning properly with regular maintenance and quality checks being performed. Ensure the availability and proper storage of all laboratory solutions and consumables. Update physicians about laboratory results for patients promptly and record these results in patient files and MOPH registers as required. Abide by the guidelines and clinical practices of the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP). Facilitate the transport of sputum samples and other specimens between the NTP center and Karantina center and/or other locations as instructed. Report back to the physician at the NTP center on a regular basis. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

a) University degree in medical laboratory sciences b) minimum two of relevant work experience c) experience in the public health sector in Lebanon.
Languages
Thorough knowledge of Arabic. Working knowledge of English or other regional languages is an advantage.
