Project Assistant (Public Health, South Health Team Leader)

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM), and direct supervision of the Health Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the implementation of  IOM’s health assistance activities, particularly the Tuberculosis (TB) project funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Lebanon. The incumbent is expected to carry out his/ her duties in accordance with the strictest ethical standards,  maintaining partnerships with Government, international organizations and non-governmental agencies, and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities. In particular, he /she will:   Assist in monitoring the work of health outreach/ TB treatment follow-up field staff and community health volunteers in the South, verify  that all required tasks are completed promptly and inform the supervisor of any deviation. Assist in implementing and organizing outreach, health awareness and screening activities. Provide assistance in the establishment of  an appropriate referral network of TB cases with partners in the area to facilitate and fasten the diagnosis and treatment process of these cases. Conduct regular visits to tuberculosis centers in the South and assist them in carrying out  the daily activities related to IOM’s TB project. Assist in coordinating all activities conducted by IOM for the NTP centers in the South, including but not limited to data collection, purchase and distribution of materials, arranging trainings and meetings. Participate in assessments/surveys of the beneficiaries’ health needs and needs of the supported tuberculosis centers. Report any difficulties and challenges to the IOM Beirut health unit Assist in coordinating other IOM health activities in the South including primary healthcare and research activities. Represent IOM at Health Working Group meetings in the South as required. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. University degree in medicine or nursing, or related health field would be an advantage

Experience and qualifications:
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience, including managerial responsibilities on field level
• Knowledge of project development, implementation and monitoring is an advantage
• Demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian system through work experience and/or studies is an advantage.
• Willingness to undertake frequent travel to field locations across his/her area of responsibility.
• Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Internet explorer.
