SVN2023 18 - Information Management Assistant

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes in close coordination with the Data and Operations Assistant and with technical support from the Regional Data Hub and the Global DTM Support Team, the candidate will perform the following activities:

  1. Provide information management support, in line with IOMs data protection principles and guidance prior to and during data collection and research activities.
  2. Assist in the development and maintenance of IOM databases and data collection and analysis tools.
  3. Support in providing out user support and training on IOM data collection applications, such as KoBo in coordination with direct supervisors..
  4. Assist in monitoring data quality during data collection and the overall data management activities including the encoding, storing, and processing of the collected data and information.
  5. Assist in providing technical support to IOM field staff and key partners, such as through the installation of applications on mobile devices, as well as through provision of guidance and solutions on technical challenges encountered.
  6. Clean primary and secondary data during and after data collection in preparation for data analysis and report production.
  7. Support the data analysis and prepare analytical tools, including dashboards and reports to support data analysis and data visualization through varying means, such as programming scripts, PowerBI, ArcGIS, MS Reporting Services and Excel Visual Basics for Applications (VBA).
  8. Support in the drafting of information products. Produce quality maps on internal movements, migrants presence, international migration, and other related information, based on the collected and cleaned data, including data from IOMs MiMOSA database.
  9. Any other duties that might be assigned.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate the following skills, values and competencies:

SKILLS

  • Ability to organize an information flow
  • Advanced Computer knowledge use including SQL database systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), ARC GIS, Google Earth
  • Knowledge of KoBo, Open Data Kit (ODK) applications and use of PDAs
  • Good knowledge of the geography and culture of Lebanon
  • Familiarity with mobile data collection technologies and GPS an advantage

• Diploma in Computer Science, IT or similar academic field
• Experience in information management, preferably in Lebanon
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Database Management and GIS Mapping
• Experience with International Organizations or INGO is an advantage
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
