Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Extract and input data from various sources in financial or accounting systems.
- Respond to accounting, budget or financial queries regarding data from staff in the unit and elsewhere.
- Review all types of payments starting from purchase to payment requests verifying that they are duly authorized, and all the supporting documents are attached therewith.
- Assist in compiling and tracking budget and expenditure data for the Country Office project activities.
- Support the review of open orders and follow up with the Supply Chain Unit (SCU) on the closure of completed transactions.
- Assist in maintaining and updating financial tracking sheets and databases.
- Support the preparation and input of monthly staff projectization data in PULSE, checking accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial, statistical reports and other reports as required.
- Provide routine information to staff on financial procedures and requirements, referring complex matters to supervisor as needed.
- Ensure proper and systematic filling of all posted payments and other accounting documents according to the established standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- High school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of IOM/UN Budget policies and practices.
SKILLS
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present information in a comprehensive, clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in SAP is a distinct advantage.
- Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way.
- Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
