Sudanese Nationals arriving by sea in Europe (January 2026)

Between January and November 2025, 12,684 migrants and refugees from Sudan arrived in Europe by sea and by land, a 3.3-fold increase compared to the number registered in the same period of 2024. Sudanese nationals are registered at arrival across all routes to Europe – 65 per cent arrived in Greece and 31 per cent arrived in Italy. The remaining 4 per cent arrived in Spain, most of which (3%) to mainland Spain and very few (less than one per cent of all arrivals in 2025) to the Canary Islands. This data snapshot provides a profile of Sudanese nationals arriving in Europe, based on Flow Monitoring Surveys collected by DTM in Italy, Spain and Greece in 2025 to date.
