169,911 INDIVIDUALS AT POINTS OF ENTRY
134,790 INDIVIDUALS AT ARRIVAL LOCATIONS
OVERVIEW
Following a significant escalation in hostilities across the Middle East region beginning on 28 February 2026, cross-border movements into the Syrian Arab Republic (hereafter referred to as Syria) have increased, specifically from neighbouring Lebanon. By 30 March 2026, these developments had resulted in widespread displacement of populations, interruptions to essential services, and the closure of key access routes across Lebanon and Syria.
As of 30 March, approximately 169,911 entries into Syria had been recorded through three Points of Entry (PoEs) along the Syrian-Lebanese border. Among those crossing, 95 per cent were Syrian nationals, while 5 per cent were Lebanese. Notably, during the reporting period, 1,787 Lebanese nationals were recorded as transiting through Syria into Jordan.
Between 2 and 30 March, DTM recorded 134,790 individuals arriving across 1,301 locations in all 14 governorates in Syria. Those recorded at arrival locations were primarily Syrian nationals, with Lebanese nationals accounting for less than one per cent.
Key informants reported significant needs among new arrivals, with overstretched resources and limited access key concerns. Needs included food, cash assistance, and shelter, as most individuals continue to rely on temporary and often inadequate accommodation arrangements.
Although cross-border movements from Lebanon into Syria remain fluid, patterns of stabilisation are increasingly emerging, with the number of new arrivals decreasing compared to the peak recorded at the start if March. Key informants report that the majority of individuals who intended to return to Syria have already done so, at the onset of hostilities, with remaining movement dynamics largely temporary and shaped by continued dependence on livelihoods in Lebanon.
The situation remains fluid, and DTM continues to monitor developments.
