2 Field Officers (Health Care) - 1 Full Time And 1 Part Time

I. Summary   Supporting maternal and newborn health care among vulnerable families affected by the Syria crisis is critical in order to guarantee mothers and newborns survival. The field officer will implement this program at a Primary Health Care, hospital and community level, by providing awareness sessions, counselling and continuous follow up to pregnant and newly delivered mothers.       II. Responsibilities and essential Functions  Provide support and counseling to pregnant mothers and/or mothers who have just delivered on maternal and newborn health at the community level, PHC level and hospital level. Conduct routine visits to follow up on mothers after delivery to provide them with postnatal services related to mother’s care and newborn/child care. Give awareness sessions to spread the knowledge among vulnerable families about optimal maternal and newborn care practices in the identified Primary Healthcare Center and hospital and community level. Contribute to the training of primary health care staff and hospital staff on maternal and newborn care. Assist in the establishment of the program and in the training of PHC and hospital staff on mother and newborn care. Provide on the job training to PHC staff on spreading awareness and giving individual counseling to pregnant and mothers who have just delivered Support the PHC staff and monitor their implementation of the program to ensure long term sustainability Identify the grass root organizations in the area of project implementation Establish good coordination relationships with the grass root organizations throughout the whole project period Follow up on the work of the trained grass root organizations and make sure they are mobilizing the community and doing the needed outreach as agreed Report daily and weekly to the health program coordinator on all activities conducted by completing the required forms Fill and submit the project databases regularly Keep the necessary files for each case visited and counseled. Attend IOCC-related staff meetings when required Represent IOCC in a professional manner and wear the IOCC jacket and ID at all times when on duty Perform other duties as necessary.   III. Qualifications  Knowledge and Skills Native Arabic speaker and fluency in English is necessary Strong social, interpersonal, communication and intercultural skills Team player Able to meet deadlines Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a midwife Experience in community field is a plus Education: B.S. in midwifery    IV. Working conditions  Will entail substantial traveling and visits to the identified primary healthcare center, identified hospital and to locations where beneficiaries are living; it is preferable that candidate resides in the area of interest and that candidates can commute with his/her own car.
