Under the direct supervision of the Senior PWSN Case Worker, the Persons with Specific Needs (PwSN) case worker is responsible for providing individual case management services to Medium/High Risk refugee children with specific needs (PWSN), including those with physical, intellectual, developmental delays, aged between 5 and 14 years old. Through the case management process, the case worker will aim to respond to persons of concern’s (PoC) immediate needs, but also to strengthen their resilience and to support the adoption of positive coping mechanisms in addition to empowering caregivers and building their capacities. 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The Case Worker (CW) focuses on supporting refugee children with specific needs (PWSN) through Case Management (CM) services. The CW will provide case management services tailored to the needs of each child, the case management duration will vary between 2 to 3 months, aiming to close all cases by the end of 2025. These services will include the development of action plans, in close coordination with caregivers, personalized PSS sessions and needed referral to specialized care, whether internally or to external actors, including request for Protection Cash Assistance according to the PoC’s needs.

  •  Play a key role in the identification of individual children with specific needs and liaise with other parties to receive referrals.
  • Conduct initial assessments through home visits, to identify the children with specific needs who require health and protection individual case management and ensuring timely intervention on referrals. 
  • Develop with the PoC/caregivers specific action plan, to respond to immediate needs, but also to strengthen PoC’s resilience and to support the adoption of positive coping mechanisms.
  • In close coordination with Caregivers, provide comprehensive case management to persons with specific needs with heightened risk levels, including home visits, counseling sessions with proper case planning and tracking, following the interagency SOPs.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for supporting the beneficiaries through all the steps of case management (i.e. Health, Protection).
  • Ensure proper documentation of assessments, action plan, follow up scheduling, referrals, case conference (when needed) and closure.
  • Ensure full reporting on RAIS.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, providing psychosocial support (PSS, PFA) including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well-being, referring them to needed services accordingly.
  • Ensure that children are linked to appropriate services and supported through a coordinated response.
  • Coordinate with different institutions, services providers, and physicians as well as caregivers at the community level to help beneficiaries access needed resources and services.
  • Ensure timely follow up -monitoring and review (weekly, monthly).
  • Ensure data protection protocols and SOPs are respected.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and trainings including case management meetings, case conference meetings or any other meetings when required.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): 
  • Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and good command of English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Work experience: 3 years, preferably with NGOs including experience with children with specific needs
  • Knowledge of CM process, principles, and standards
  • Contextual awareness
  • Highly empathic in dealing with beneficiaries
  • Knowledge of archiving system and case management info management
  • Computer skills: good command of Word and Excel
  • Excellent knowledge of Protection principles and of PSEA
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening
  • Teamwork
  • Good organizational skills
  1. Education:  
  • Medical social worker degree preferred or any relevant medical/Health degree with knowledge in social work.
  1. Experience:  
  • At least 3 years work experience 
  • Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage
  • Previous experience in dealing with children with specific needs
