Community Health & Nutrition Educator (Beirut/mount Lebanon)

Summary The Community Health & Nutrition Educator (CHNE) will assist the program on the treatment and management of acute malnutrition at the Primary Health Care level. The CHNE will act as a focal point for the program at the primary healthcare center, ensure application of treatment protocol, and provide on-the-job support and capacity building of PHC staff. The CHNE will also assist in taking anthropometric measurements and recording data as well as coordinate program-related activities at the PHC.    General Responsibilities Act as a focal point at the Primary Healthcare Center for the treatment and management of acute malnutrition Provide daily on the job support to the assigned PHC to establish the surveillance system for growth monitoring of children 6-59 months of age. Provide daily on the job support to healthcare staff at PHCs in measuring and recording anthropometric data for all children 6-59 months of age. Ensure the distribution of micronutrients to pregnant & lactating women and children under 5 Report on the stock and need for supplies at the PHCs May contribute to the training of screening teams on anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height), recording and referrals. Organize and deliver awareness sessions to beneficiaries (nutrition, infant and young child feeding, hygiene etc.) Conduct home visits to follow-up on defaulting cases Link with contracting agency, PHC director, PHC administrative staff, nurses, pediatricians and community health worker Liaise and report to the Health and Nutrition Field Officer Submit weekly reports Attend IOCC-related staff meetings when required Perform other duties as necessary.   Qualifications  Knowledge and Skills: B.Sc. in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred or related field (public health, nursing, health promotion, etc.) Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary Good public speaking and presentation skills Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills Team player Able to meet deadlines Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Experience: 0-1 year of experience (in the field of health promotion or nutrition is preferable) Working Conditions  Stationed at a primary healthcare center with visits to the surrounding communities Preferable to have a car
