Community Nutrition and ECD Volunteers

 

The Community Nutrition and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Volunteer will carry out outreach activities, including raising awareness, disseminating key messages, and conducting ECD and malnutrition screenings at the community level. The focus will be on early childhood development and infant and infant and young child feeding.
    

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  •   Disseminate key messages and provide awareness sessions on Health and Nutrition topics with a focus on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and infant and young child feeding (IYCF) to beneficiaries at the community level.
  •        Link the communities to the national IYCF hotline to receive needed IYCF support.
  •   Conduct ECD screening at the community level and refer cases to specialized ECD care when needed
  •        Distribution of micronutrients supplements to children aged 6-59 months at the community level
  •        Link the community to the nearest PHC, inform them of the services provided by the PHCs
  •        Conduct community screening for acute malnutrition and refer identified malnutrition cases to the  screening and treatment centers
  •         Submit reports to the Community Nutrition and ECD Supervisor as requested
  •         Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Preferable education degree: Health Sciences or any related field
  • Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic is necessary
  • Good public speaking and communication skills
  • Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Team player
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Experience required: Less than one year

Working Conditions

  • Will entail substantial traveling and visits to locations where beneficiaries are living (at the community level)
  • It is preferable that candidate resides in the area of interest and that candidates can commute with his/her own car.
