Evaluation Team Member

ACT Alliance is a coalition of more than 130 churches and affiliated organizations working together in 140 countries to create positive and sustainable change in the lives of poor and marginalized people regardless of their religion, politics, gender, sexual orientation, race or nationality in keeping with the highest international codes and standards. ACT Alliance is inviting applications for an Evaluation Team Member for an upcoming external evaluation in September 2013 in Jordan, Lebanon (and possibly Syria). 1. Tasks and deliverables : - is co-responsible for the fulfillment of the Terms of Reference of the evaluation - reviews key background documents - participates in orientation and briefing in Amman -  provides comments/inputs to the Team Leader in the development of the draft mission plan - supports facilitation of briefing and de-briefing sessions at start and finish of the evaluation - contributes to the final evaluation report 2. Competencies : - is fluent in English and Arabic - is able to design and apply program evaluation methods and context-sensitive analysis to a complex, multi-actor humanitarian assistance program - is diplomatic and has tact in communicating with people and has a participatory style - has strong writing and presentation skills - has demonstrated experience as an evaluator and humanitarian assistance worker with experience in large scale refugee and IDP programs - has demonstrated experience working in the Middle East with churches and ecumenical agencies - has strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, Sphere minimum standards and NGOs Code of Conduct 3. Period of consultancy : - 2 to 3 weeks in September 2013 (dates to be defined) including preparation and reporting, with travel inside Jordan, Lebanon and Syria (the latter depending on access) 4. Remuneration : - 300 US$ per day (ACT will cover all travel, insurance and visa costs) upon submission of an invoice and vouchers to the ACT Secretariat in Geneva 5.
