Field Engineer

Summary  The Field Engineer is responsible for the implementation of the Project’s rehabilitation component in schools. He /She reports to the Construction Manager.   General Responsibilities  Assess school status (including school infrastructure and building), and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Keep the Construction Manager informed of all aspects of infrastructure component implementation. Conduct post assessment visits to schools to deliver the work to construction companies and contractors. Require and receive work schedules from construction companies and contractors and reporting any change in the schedules. Supervise the work of construction companies and contractors. Resolve any inconsistencies between his/her recommendations and the contractors’ work, document and report the inconsistency and the resolution to Construction Manager. Notify the Construction Manager of any obstacles that may develop or that are foreseen. Take delivery of/receive the final work from construction companies and contractors. Collect information required and fill out end-use checking forms during field visits to schools. Collate, analyze and report on data collected.   Qualifications Knowledge and Skills: Microsoft Office/ AutoCAD, Visual Basics. Ability to walk, stand, reach and possibly climb on ladders and go up or down stairs to inspect and collect data on the physical conditions of the school facilities including roofs and basements Good technical writing and reporting skills. Competencies: Good communication skills. Ability to work in a cross cultural environment; under pressure to meet deadlines, problem solver, achiever. Good organizational and time management skills.   Education: BS in Civil Engineering or Architecture.   Experience: Two years of work experience. Relevant experience in school rehabilitation or similar education projects is an asset.   Certifications: None required   Working Conditions In-country trips to visit schools in various Lebanese regions and to IOCC office. Compensation  Contractual payment based on the project. Transportation reimbursable per project formula Hotel overnight lodging if required
