Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator

The Health and Nutrition Area Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the smooth, timely, and high-quality implementation of nutrition and Early Childhood Development (ECD) activities within the assigned area. The Coordinator will provide technical guidance and supervision to field teams, monitor progress against project targets, ensure adherence to organizational standards and donor requirements, and address implementation challenges in a timely manner. S/he will also support planning, reporting, and data review processes to ensure accountability and program effectiveness.

In addition, the Health and Nutrition Area Coordinator will represent IOCC with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, community actors, and sector partners, strengthening coordination and fostering collaborative relationships to enhance program impact and sustainability.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

 

  • Lead and coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition and ECD project activities within the assigned area, ensuring alignment with project objectives, organizational standards, and donor requirements.
  • Represent IOCC in all relevant Nutrition and ECD coordination meetings, technical working groups, and stakeholder forums, and ensure follow-up on agreed actions and commitments.
  • Provide technical guidance and strategic oversight for capacity-building initiatives, including organizing and coordinating trainings on nutrition and ECD topics, and advising field teams as needed.
  • Contribute to project planning, assessment of new interventions, and development of concept notes and proposals to expand or strengthen nutrition and ECD programming.
  • Provide oversight of the area-level team, including supporting recruitment processes, performance monitoring, and facilitation of regular staff meetings to ensure efficient and effective delivery of project activities.
  • Identify programmatic challenges, analyze gaps, and propose solutions in collaboration with field teams and the Project Manager to enhance project quality and outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partner NGOs, MoPH PHC coordinators, municipalities, and other relevant actors to ensure effective coordination and collaboration.
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation activities, review program data, and ensure timely preparation of internal and external reports to inform decision-making and accountability.
  • Provide regular updates and technical recommendations to the Project Manager to support strategic planning and program improvement.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Project Manager.

  • Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field and IOCC Office
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English

 

Experience:  

  • At least 3 years work experience
  • Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage
  • Previous experience in CMAM, ECD and IYCF program implementation is an advantage
