Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator (South & Nabatiyeh)

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland is the official humanitarian relief agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America.  Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered $488 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 50 countries. IOCC seeks a full-time motivated Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator (South & Nabatiyeh) who will supervise and manage the implementation of IOCC’s Health and Nutrition Programs in the areas including Nutrition, Health Promotion, and Infant and Young Child Feeding. The H&N Area Coordinator will be responsible for representing IOCC in the target area for health and nutrition, managing, supervising and building the capacity of the Health and Nutrition team. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Act as a focal point for South and Nabtiyeh governorates on all health and nutrition projects and activities in the area of concern. Plan, supervise, manage and monitor implementation of health and nutrition projects in the South and Nabatiyeh governorates including: Training of Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs), Social Development Centers (SDCs), Hospitals on screening, identification and/or management of acute malnutrition. Coaching operations for PHCs trained on either screening & referral or screening & management of acute malnutrition.  Accurate reporting of training and coaching activities Capacity building of IOCC health & nutrition teams in the area of responsibility. Coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and UNICEF Zonal Office. Other health & nutrition-related activities as the need arises. Conduct trainings on health and nutrition topics (including screening, management and treatment of acute malnutrition) to primary healthcare center staff, partner NGOs and agencies, where necessary Ensure availability of and replenish program supplies in area of concern where needed; liaise with logistics department at IOCC. Contribute to the assessment and activation of additional primary healthcare centers for management of acute malnutrition. Supervise team at the area level to ensure proper implementation of project, fulfillment of tasks Participate in the recruitment process of team when applicable. Report, discuss and address program challenges with team and program coordinator. Analyze and reflect on achievements, productivity and efficiency of teams in the area of concern Conduct regular staff meetings for the Health and Nutrition team and contribute to building the capacity of the team. Communicate and liaise internally with other IOCC departments as needed Remain informed of all internal and external health and nutrition activities within the target area. Arrange visits for media, donors, and partners and represent IOCC during visits to the field.  Establish strong links and relationships with program stakeholders including PHCs, SHCs, partner NGOs, beneficiaries, municipalities, local NGOs, Caza Physicians, MoPH PHC Coordinators and donors. Attend all Health and Nutrition Working Group coordination meetings and other working group meetings as needed or requested (e.g. Inter-Agency meetings). Attend and participate in IOCC meetings and capacity building activities. Submit weekly reports on achievements in the area of concern, prepare monthly/quarterly reports as needed for the area of concern. Report back to Program Coordinator on a regular basis. Perform other duties as required or assigned Qualified applicants will possess: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):  Self-motivated and initiative taker Organized Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions Proven capacity in management, leadership and teamwork Proven capacity in writing reports Proven capacity in training Excellent communication skills and team building skills Ability to meet deadlines Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field, South, Nabatiyeh and Beirut (IOCC Office) Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English Education:   B.Sc. in Nutrition, Public Health, Health or related domain; M.Sc is an advantage. Experience:   At least 3 years work experience; or 1 year work experience with M.Sc. Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage Previous experience in CMAM and IYCF program implementation is an advantage
