Health & Nutrition Field Officer

Summary The Health & Nutrition Field Officer will supervise the implementation of the program on the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for children between 6 and 59 months of age. The H&N Field Officer will supervise program-related activities in area and within selected primary healthcare centers. The H&N Field Officer will also contribute to building the capacity of health staff at the PHC and community level through trainings.   General Responsibilities   Act as a focal point for an area and for selected Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) Supervise and monitor the implementation of surveillance system for growth monitoring of children 6-59 months of age at selected PHCs. Supervise and monitor the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for identified children between 6 and 59 months of age, distribution of micronutrient supplementation and awareness sessions at the selected PHCs Assess and address program weaknesses and conduct necessary training at the selected PHCs Conduct training on management and treatment of acute malnutrition for primary healthcare center staff where necessary and contribute to the activation of additional primary healthcare centers May conduct home visits to follow-up on defaulting cases Assess and administer treatment for children identified with acute malnutrition where PHCs are not available in the surrounding area. Liaise with the team conducting community screening of malnutrition in the area Establish link with contracting agency, PHC director, PHC administrative staff, nurses and pediatricians at the selected PHCs Attend IOCC staff meetings when required May attend Health Working Group meetings Liaise with the Community Health Educators Reports to Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator Submit weekly report Perform other duties as necessary.   Qualifications  Knowledge and Skills: B.Sc. in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred or related field (public health, nursing, etc.) Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary Good public speaking and training skills Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills Strong team player Able to meet deadlines Problem-solving skills Reporting skills Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Self-motivated, takes initiative Experience: 1-2 years of experience in the field of health promotion or nutrition is preferable   Contacts/Key Relationships Community Health Workers, Community Health Educators, Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator, Area Monitor, Health & Nutrition Coordinator, Country Representative Working Conditions Stationed in the field with visits to Beirut office when required Candidate should have a car   Interested candidates are welcome to apply by sending their CV and cover letter to ioccleb@iocc.org with the subject “Health and Nutrition Field Officer – Area of Interest (select: Akkar/Tripoli/Bekaa/South)”
