Health & Nutrition Field Officer / North

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland is the official humanitarian relief agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America.  Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered $488 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 50 countries.   The Health & Nutrition Field Officer will supervise the implementation of the program on the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for children between 6 and 59 months of age. The H&N Field Officer will supervise program-related activities in area and within selected primary healthcare centers. The H&N Field Officer will also contribute to building capacity of health staff PHC and community level through trainings.     Responsibilities and Essential Functions   Acts as a focal point for an area and for selected Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) Supervises and monitors the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for identified children under 5, distribution of micronutrient supplementation and awareness sessions at the selected PHCs Supervises and monitors the implementation of surveillance system for growth monitoring of children under 5 at the PHCs Is responsible for the referral pathway between PHC and SHC Ensures link between PHC, SHC and back Conducts training on management and treatment of acute malnutrition for primary healthcare center staff where necessary and contributes to the activation of additional primary healthcare centers Conducts home visits to follow-up on defaulting cases Assesses and administers treatment at home for children identified with acute malnutrition where PHCs are not available in the surrounding area Liaises with the team conducting community screening of malnutrition in the area Maintains an active database of all cases (malnutrition and IYCF) in the area of responsibility (community, PHC, SHC and cases referred) Establishes link with contracting agency, director, administrative staff, nurses and pediatricians at the selected PHCs and SHCs in the area Liaises with the Community Health and Nutrition Educators (CHNEs), Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator, IYCF-E team and Area Monitor. Covers for CHNEs whenever needed – assumes all responsibilities and duties Prepares and submits weekly reports and other reports as requested.   Identifies and proactively addresses challenges encountered at field level and provides continuous feedback to the supervisor Attends Health Working Group and other relevant meetings when required Attends IOCC staff meetings and trainings when required Maintains a positive and constructive attitude Respects communication channels within the team and the organization Performs other duties as necessary.   Qualified applicants will possess Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary Organized, has strong drive and motivation Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills Strong team player Excellent communication skills Problem-solving skills/conflict resolution Self-motivated, takes initiative Proven capacity in training Approachable Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Willingness to use personal car and to frequently travel to the field, Akkar, T5 and Beirut (IOCC Office)     Experience   1-2 years of experience in the field of health promotion or nutrition is preferable Previous experience in NGO, and humanitarian field is an advantage Previous experience in CMAM and IYCF program implementation is an advantage Working Conditions Stationed in the field with frequent visits to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Centers IOCC is operating through.  Visits to Beirut office for meetings, trainings, related paper work. Candidate should have a car Preferable that candidate resides in the same area (North)
