I. Summary
The Health & Nutrition Field Officer will supervise the implementation of the program on the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for children between 6 and 59 months of age. The H&N Field Officer will supervise program-related activities in area and within selected primary healthcare centers. The H&N Field Officer will also contribute to building capacity of health staff PHC and community level through trainings.
II. General Responsibilities
Act as a focal point for an area and for selected Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs)
Supervise and monitor the management and treatment of acute malnutrition for identified children under 5, distribution of micronutrient supplementation and awareness sessions at the selected PHCs
Supervise and monitor the implementation of surveillance system for growth monitoring of children under 5 at the PHCs
Is responsible for the referral pathway between PHC and SHC
Ensures link between PHC, SHC and back
Conduct training on management and treatment of acute malnutrition for primary healthcare center staff where necessary and contribute to the activation of additional primary healthcare centers
Conduct home visits to follow-up on defaulting cases
Assess and administer treatment at home for children identified with acute malnutrition where PHCs are not available in the surrounding area
Liaise with the team conducting community screening of malnutrition in the area
Maintains an active database of all cases (malnutrition and IYCF) in the area of responsibility (community, PHC, SHC and cases referred)
Establish link with contracting agency, director, administrative staff, nurses and pediatricians at the selected PHCs and SHCs in the area
Liaise with the Community Health and Nutrition Educators, Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator and IYCF-E team
Cover for CHNEs whenever needed – assume all responsibilities and duties
Submit weekly report
Identify and proactively address challenges encountered at field level and provide continuous feedback to the supervisor
Attend Health Working Group meetings when required
Attend IOCC staff meetings when required
Maintain a positive and constructive attitude
Respects communication channels within the team and the organization
Perform other duties as necessary.
III. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
B.Sc. in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred
Professional communication skills
Organized, initiative taker, strong drive and motivation
Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary
Good public speaking and training skills
Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills
Strong team player
Able to meet deadlines
Problem-solving skills/conflict resolution
Approachable
Reporting skills
Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Self-motivated, takes initiative
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in the field of health promotion or nutrition is preferable

Working Conditions
Stationed in the field with visits to Beirut office when required
