Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Coordinator

Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Coordinator will be responsible for supporting IOCC and MoPH - Mother and Child Health Department to follow up on all IYCF related activities at national level and to assist other organizations in the implementation of projects related to IYCF.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the implementation, follow up and support of the IYCF activities at IOCC and the MoPH – Mother and Child Health Department as per identified priorities.
  • Support organizations with on the job coaching and guidance to ensure quality of service delivery in IYCF.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the IYCF action plan with different stakeholders and members of the national IYCF committee and provide direction to implement the IYCF activities effectively.
  • Oversee the IYCF national referral mechanism by supporting cases reported on the IYCF National hotline.
  • Follow up on reported violations and reach out to organizations to abide by the international code and the Law 47/2008.
  • Report and compile BMS violations and address them properly in coordination with MoPH.
  • Link and refer organizations distributing BMS to the Lactation specialists to provide them with the needed guidance and support via the hotline.
  • Develop a capacity building plan, coordinate, and organize national IYCF training sessions and facilitate them when needed.
  • Support the BFHI monitor and MoPH to follow up on the BFHI implementation and hospitals’ adherence to the 10 BFHI steps.
  • Lead and facilitate the National IYCF committee meetings.
  • Represent MoPH- Mother and child Unit at the relevant IYCF coordination meetings including the nutrition taskforce, the health working group and the IYCF committee meetings.
  • Drafting minutes of meetings for IYCF committee meetings and other relevant meetings.
  • Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the Head of mother and child unit at MoPH and the Project Coordinator at IOCC
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Experience:

  • 4-5 years of work experience.
  • Previous experience in IYCF programs
  • Previous experience in coordination and management
  • Experience working for an NGO preferred.
