Malnutrition Monitor

Summary

The malnutrition monitors will be working closely with the malnutrition treatment PHCCs, providing them with on-the-job coaching and following up on the implementation of the malnutrition treatment program at the PHC level. They will also manage the financial aspects of the malnutrition program support, including transportation and consultation fees.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  1. Conduct weekly visits to the project’s identified PHCCs treating acute malnutrition cases in the area.
  2. Conduct on-the-job training to the designated health staff on anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height and edema) and management of acute malnutrition for children under 5 and PLWs whenever needed.
  3. Ensure the correct implementation of the referral process (PHCC to PHCC, PHCC to hospital, hospital to PHCC)
  4. Provide the support and guidance needed to ensure proper follow-up of children admitted for management of acute malnutrition and prevent a high incidence of defaulters.
  5. Link malnourished or at-risk cases with the project’s food distribution component and follow up to ensure timely and appropriate distribution. Maintain accurate records of all referrals and distributions. Refer malnutrition cases to the social worker to receive the needed support when needed (cash assistance, food assistance…)
  6. Follow up with referred beneficiaries to the screening, treatment centers, or hospitals treating acute malnutrition cases to ensure they have received the service they need.
  7. Follow up with the caregivers of malnourished children on a regular basis to ensure compliance to the treatment as per the Nutrition sector SOPs and identify any possible barriers for accessing and sustaining access to care.
  8. Monitor and follow up on subsidizing acute malnutrition consultations at the acute malnutrition management centers and ensure that the centers follow the regulations and that the financial records are maintained accordingly.
  9. Report and raise major challenges or concerns related to the referrals to the project area coordinator.
  10. Attend relevant training sessions as necessary
  11. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

  Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): 

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker.
  • Experience in capacity building and training
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

Experience:  

  • 2-3 years of work experience
  • Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in CMAM program is an advantage

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field, daily visits to the supported PHCCs
  • Visits to Beirut office for meetings, training, related paperwork.
  • Candidates should have a car.
