The Malnutrition Monitor will work closely with PHCCs implementing the malnutrition treatment program, providing on-the-job coaching and following up on the proper implementation of the program at the PHC level. In addition, they will be responsible for delivering trainings on malnutrition as needed.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Conduct weekly visits to PHCCs treating acute malnutrition cases in the area.
- Conduct on-the-job training to the designated health staff on anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height and edema) and management of acute malnutrition for children under 5 and PLWs whenever needed.
- Ensure the correct implementation of the referral process (PHC to PHC, PHC to hospital, hospital to PHC)
- Provide the support and guidance needed to ensure proper follow-up of children admitted for management of acute malnutrition and prevent a high incidence of defaulters.
- Refer malnutrition cases to specialized care when needed (cash assistance, food assistance…)
- Follow up with referred beneficiaries to the treatment centers, or hospitals treating acute malnutrition cases to ensure they have received the service they need.
- Follow up with the caregivers of malnourished children on a regular basis to ensure compliance to the treatment and identify any possible barriers for accessing and sustaining access to care.
- Oversee and monitor the financial component of the program, including the subsidization of acute malnutrition consultations at acute malnutrition management centers and the coverage of transportation costs. Ensure compliance with approved guidelines and verify that all related financial documentation and records are properly maintained and documented.
- Conduct trainings on malnutrition and other nutrition-related topics as needed.
- Report and raise major challenges or concerns to the health and nutrition area coordinator.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.

- Good organizational skills.

- Experience in capacity building and trainings
- Good report writing skills.
- Dynamic personality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of work experience
- Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Stationed in the field, daily visits to the PHCs
- Visits to Beirut office for meetings, trainings, related paperwork.
