Malnutrition Monitor (Beirut/Mount Lebanon, Akkar/T5, South/Nabatieh, Baalbak/Bekaa)

The malnutrition monitor will be responsible for coaching the malnutrition treatment PHCs and supporting them in the implementation of the malnutrition program.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Conduct weekly visits to PHCs treating acute malnutrition cases in the area
  2. Conduct on-the-job training to the designated health staff on anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height and edema) and management of acute malnutrition for children under 5 and PLWs whenever needed
  3. Ensure the correct implementation of the referral process (PHC to PHC, PHC to hospital, hospital to PHC)
  4. Provide the needed support and guidance to ensure proper follow-up of children admitted for management of acute malnutrition and prevent a high incidence of defaulters.
  5. Refer malnutrition cases to specialized agencies to receive the needed support when needed (cash assistance, food assistance…)
  6. Coordinate with the MoPH-PHC coordinator in the area and the malnutrition officer to ensure an optimal implementation of the program.
  7. Train mothers from the community on the Family MUAC screening and follow up on referrals of identified cases to the malnutrition screening and treatment PHCs
  8. link the community to the nearest PHC, inform them of the malnutrition services provided by the PHCs and refer suspected malnutrition cases to the screening and treatment centers
  9. Follow up with referred beneficiaries to the screening, treatment centers, or hospitals treating acute malnutrition cases to ensure they have received the service they need
  10. Report and raise major challenges or concerns related to the referrals to the nutrition officer and the Senior Health Officer
  11. Perform other duties as required or assigned

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker.
  • Experience in capacity building and trainings
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

Experience:  

  • 2-3 years of work experience
  • Previous experience in working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field, daily visits to the PHCs
  • Visits to IOCC’s office for meetings, trainings, related paper work
  • Candidate should have a car
